Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

The Hill Country's landmark pink-granite dome, with summit hikes and some of the darkest night skies in Central Texas.

for the wedding weekend

The classic wedding-morning hike — reserve day passes ahead; weekends sell out.

Enchanted Rock is the Hill Country's geological exclamation point: a 425-foot dome of pink granite rising out of the ranchland north of Fredericksburg. The Summit Trail to the top takes most groups under an hour each way and pays out a panorama that explains, in one look, why you chose this region for your wedding.

For wedding weekends it's the classic Saturday-morning move — an early hike burns off nervous energy and gets everyone back to town by lunch. The park opens at 6:30 a.m.; sunrise from the dome is the photo your most outdoorsy guests will frame.

Logistics are the catch: entrance is $8 (kids 12 and under free) and day passes regularly sell out on weekends, September through May especially. Have guests reserve online before they drive out, and remind them to bring water — the park asks visitors to carry their own.
