Blue Hole Regional Park

Wimberley's storied cypress-shaded swimming hole; swim season runs May through Labor Day, reservations required.

for the wedding weekend

Block out an afternoon float for guests — passes go on sale March 1 and peak dates go fast.

Blue Hole is the swimming hole other swimming holes are measured against: a stretch of Cypress Creek shaded by centuries-old bald cypress, cold and clear through the worst of a Texas summer, with rope swings that have launched generations of Wimberley kids.

Swim season runs daily from May 1 through Labor Day (plus September weekends), 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Every swimmer needs a pass purchased online in advance — none are sold at the gate — and summer Saturdays genuinely sell out. Reservations open March 1; if your wedding is in June or July, put the date in your planning calendar.

For a wedding itinerary, it's the perfect counter-programming to wine: send the families with kids and the non-drinkers here on Saturday afternoon while the bach-adjacent crowd does the tasting rooms. The park's trails and lawns are open year-round outside swim season, free.
